Blogghetti’s Grilled Margarita Chicken

If you are like me, you peruse the internet for new recipes for your everyday life. I found a new-to-me blog, Blogghetti,  and instantly added it to my list of blogs to follow.  Lisa at Blogghetti's mission is "Simple Recipes for Every Day Life". The first recipe that caught my eye was her Grilled Margarita Chicken. The flavor profile looks perfect and what a beautiful presentation. ...

Microwave Corn on the Cob? YES!

MICROWAVE your Corn on the Cob! Yep, that's right! Microwave your corn on the cob.  It is super fast, super easy and simply the best corn you can get. Keep it husked, just don't do anything to it. Then pop it into the microwave and microwave for 4-8 minutes. 1 corn for 4 minutes 2 corn for 5.5 minutes 3 corn for 7 minutes 4 corn for 8 minutes A tip from a Facebook fan: Works great if you use a sharp knife and cut off the stem end, after cooking. Hold ear by silk end and the ear drops ...

Dish Ditty Recipes: A year of cooking in review

Well, it's been one year since my first post here on Dish Ditty Recipes. When I started this site, I had a goal of 200 recipes for the year.  I thought that was going to be tough to do as that's a little more than a recipe every other day. But, that number was hit several months ago, to my own surprise. So, how many recipes did I post? I posted over 240 recipes, 20 articles, 12 little ditties, and a dozen more other articles like videos and quotes. Wow. I can't believe I posted that ...

Finding inspiration… from a movie?

After months of having the Julie & Julia dvd sitting on my TV stand, I finally decided to watch it last weekend. My husband had seen it and said I would enjoy it since the movie is about a food blogger and that I would feel a connection to the movie. So, did I? I'd have to say yes, I did feel a connection to Julie. Some of the emotions that Julie went through in the movie, wondering if anyone was reading her posts, if what she was doing mattered, are thoughts that have crossed my mind as ...

I admit it… I sometimes do semi-homemade

There's nothing wrong with Semi-Homemade That's right. I said it. I have no problems with using shortcuts (like jar marinara sauce) to make my weeknights easier while still providing a home cooked meal to my family. Not everyone can make their dinners 100% home made and organic every night. Not only is that time consuming, but it can also be expensive. So, instead, I pick and choose what I feel makes sense to be organic, homemade, etc. Some things are so quick and easy that it doesn't ...

Marinated Chicken Teriyaki Recipe

This is so simple to do and can be modified by adding other flavors easily.  I make this a couple times a year and wonder why I don't make it more often.  You can use boneless or bone-in chicken, thighs or breasts... whatever type of chicken you like. Pictured is chicken tenders. Perfect for a BBQ. Marinade the chicken the night before and then grill it the day of the party. So simple, quick and so good your friends will be begging for the recipe. ...

My new must-stop BBQ joint on the way to South Lake Tahoe off 50 in Placerville

Hog Wild BBQ Restaurant in Placerville, CA Who would have thought that a BBQ joint off of 50 heading to South Lake Tahoe California in Placerville would be so amazingly good that I now will make sure I stop at Hog Wild BBQ whenever we are going to/from Tahoe. To start, my husband likes to find 'local flavor' when we go on trips. Usually this means a quaint diner that the locals like to frequent. So this last Saturday when we were on our way home from South Lake Tahoe, we had planned on ...
