French Onion Dip Recipe

No, this is not made with Lipton onion soup mix. This French Onion Dip Recipe is made with fresh onions and is so good you’ll never make it from the box again (well, unless you are out of onions). Perfect for parties when served with potato chips or veggies.

French Onion Dip Recipe

Ingredients

3 cups Yellow Onions
1/2 cup chopped Green Onions (optional)
1/2 cup chopped Cilantro (optional)
1/2 Tbl Oil
Salt & Pepper (dashes)
2-4 Tbl water
1 pint Sour Cream
1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1.5 tsp Beau Monde Seasoning

Instructions

Heat oil in large saute pan. Add onions and saute until starting get light brown in color. Add a little water once or twice to the onions to make them caramelize. Onions will take about 4-6 minutes to caramelize. Remove from heat and add chopped green onions to pan and mix with cooked onions. Let cool (about 15 minutes).

In large bowl, combine all remaining ingredients together: cilantro, sour cream, mayonnaise, and beau monde seasoning. Mix in onion mixture. Refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.
