  • 1 1/2lb Ground Beef (93% lean)
  • 1/2 Onions (diced, approx 3/4 cup)
  • 1/2 Bell Pepper (diced, approx 3/4 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 2 1/2 cups Milk
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1lb Elbow Macaroni
  • 1 cup Sour Cream (optional)

Step 1
Brown ground beef.
Step 2
Add garlic salt, peppers and onions. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent.
Step 3
Add the soup, use the milk to rinse out the soup cans. Add the milk and water and cook until bubbly.
Step 4
Add the macaroni noodles, bring back to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 5
Remove from heat and let stand for about 5 minutes. Stir in sour cream and serve.

And then there’s the original recipe I did 15 years or so ago.  I called it Frugalroni, because I was low on cash and needed to make something hearty for dinner.  I just grabbed what I could find and came up with this.

This is the original frugalroni recipe that I created many many years ago when I was low on cash.  A great way to stretch your dollar.

Step 1
Brown Ground beef. Add onions and peppers. Cook for about 5 minutes or until onions start to turn transluscent.
Step 2
Add remaining ingredients. Heat to a boil, stirring continuously.
Step 3
Serve over cooked Egg Noodles.
