My Grandma P. has some amazing recipes and this is one of those. My mom made this ‘Angel Delight’ for many potlucks and parties. It really is an Orange Creamsicle Dessert.
Dissolve gelatin in 1/2 cup of cold water. Add 1/2 cup of boiling water. Mix gelatin with orange juice, lemon juice, sugar and allow to cool. When cool, beat this mixture together with the Cool Whip until smooth.
In a 9x13 Pyrex pan (or 10x14 cake pan lined with wax paper), spread half of the cake pieces in the pan and cover with half of the Cool Whip mixture. Add the remaining cake pieces, cover with the remaining Cool Whip mixture and top with the chopped walnuts.
Refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.
My mom had a lot of recipes that were in her arsenal for parties. There were a few standout dessert recipes. Banana Split Dessert and 30-Minute Chocolate Cake were two of her favorites. The last is this Angel Delight which my mom made in the summer when we needed something light.
It is so easy to prepare, but just remember to make it a day in advance as it really does need the time to setup. I know you will love it. Enjoy!
