Green Beans with Black Bean Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 3 tablespoons Lee Kum Kee Black Bean & Garlic Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Panda Brand Lo Mein Sauce (or Oyster Sauce)
- 1/2 tablespoon Seasoned Rice Wine Vinegar
- 1/2 tablespoon Sesame Oil
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 cup Onion (diced)
- 1 1/2 cup Mixed Peppers (diced)
- 1/4 cup Water
Note
To make this vegan, substitute the Lo Mein Sauce with a Vegetarian Oyster Flavored Sauce or Stir Fry sauce.
Directions
Step 1 | |
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, black bean garlic sauce, lo mein sauce, seasoned rice wine vinegar, sesame oil and sugar. Set aside.
Step 2 | |
Heat the oil in a wok or large pan. When hot, add the onions and peppers and cook until onions start to soften, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 3 | |
Add green beans and 1/4 cup of water. Cook, stirring constantly, until the water is gone. I like my green beans more al dente. If you like your green beans soft, add 1/2 cup of water instead of 1/4 cup.
Step 4 | |
Add the sauce mixture from above and cook for 2-3 minutes. That's it! |

What quantity green beans are to be used in this recipe?
Honestly? I just get a couple handfuls from the grocery store. But if you are looking at the pre-bagged 2lb bag, I usually will use 2/3 of a bag. So probably 1.5 pounds of green beans.
