This is a delicious and easy candy that can be made with leftover walnut filling from Grandma’s Polish Easter Nutroll Recipe, or just made on it’s own. It’s addicting… I warned you.
Nutroll Brittle
Ingredients
- 3 cups English walnuts (chopped fine)
- 3/4 cups butter
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cups milk
- 3 egg yolks
Directions
Step 1 | |
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Turn down heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool for 10 minutes before moving towards next step. | |
Step 2 | |
Spread a thin layer of Grandma's Nutroll filling onto parchment paper (depending on your pan size, you may have enough for multiple batches). Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until it is a deep caramel color and is not bubbling much anymore. Remove from oven and let it cool completely. Drizzle chocolate, if desired. |
This recipe came about when I had some leftover filling after making a batch of the nutrolls for Christmas. I had noticed that sometimes the filling oozed out of the dough, and I would always pick at it and eat it . So good. Well, this is what came of that and I have to admit that I will probably be making this again… and again… and again…
Enjoy!
