This is a Chinese style, light batter Fried Tofu Appetizer Recipe that is Gluten Free. Light and delicious, it’s a great start to any meal.
Combine the egg whites with the salt and cornstarch. Make sure all the cornstarch is dissolved and evenly distributed.
In a deep pan, heat the olive oil on medium to medium high heat. Dip the tofu cubes in the egg white mixture and fry in the oil. Fry until light brown, flip and fry until light brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
I don’t know what got into me to make this. I tend to not like fried foods, but for some reason I saw a Chinese pork stir fry recipe that used this egg white and cornstarch mixture. I immediately thought of a Chinese appetizer that I had stuck in my head.
So, this is what I came up with and my husband loved it. I think he ate half of these on his own.
