- 1 Large Sourdough Bread Bowl
- 1 Sourdough Bread Loaf (unsliced, cut into 1-inch cubes)
- 20oz Chopped Frozen Spinach (thawed & drained)
- 6 Green Onions (finely chopped)
- 1 packet Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix
- 1/2 cup Carrots (optional)
- 2 cups Mayonnaise
- 3 cups Sour Cream
Note
Adapted from Knorr's Spinach Dip Recipe.
Directions
Step 1 | |
Be sure to give yourself time to thaw out the spinach.
Step 2 | |
Mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and both packages of soup mix. Add the carrots and green onions. Then slowly mix in the spinach and combine well. Cover and refrigerate for about six hours or overnight.
Step 3 | |
Cut the top off of the round loaf and scoop out the center of the loaf to form a bowl. Cut the top and cut out portions into bite-sized chunks and put around the loaf on a large platter (or you can use the top as decoration). Fill the center of the loaf with the spinach dip and serve. |
If you are like me, you look for the spinach dip whenever you show up to a party. There are some versions, however, that just don’t taste quite right. And, to be perfectly honest, I don’t like water chestnuts! So, here’s my rendition of spinach dip.
As you can see, it’s a double recipe. You can choose to make a it single recipe by either just using the Vegetable Soup mix, or mix the two together and separate it in half saving the other half for your next time.
Originally I had a 3 Vegetable Soup mix per 1 Leek soup mix, but a 1+1 works well too.
If you do want the water chestnuts, be sure to drain and rinse them and then chop them into small pieces.
