One of the best spreads you can serve at any party. So creamy, smokey, and just plain beautiful. My mom, Cherri, used to always make this for parties and I continue the tradition and serve it at my parties as well.

One of our family staples for parties, this Salmon Party Ball is something my mom, Cherri, made all the time. This appetizer is definitely a family favorite.
Ingredients
- 1lb Smoked Salmon (flake style)
- 8oz Cream Cheese (softened)
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 3 Green Onions (chopped fine)
- 1 teaspoon Prepared Horseradish
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt (to taste -- might not need it depending on salt level in salmon)
- 1/2 cup Pecans (chopped)
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley (chopped)
Note
Modified from original recipe to use smoked salmon instead of canned salmon with liquid smoke. If you don't have smoked salmon, substitute with 1 pound of canned salmon and 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke.
Directions
Step 1 | |
Drain and flake salmon, remove skin and bones. Combine cream cheese, lemon juice, onion, horseradish, and salt. Mix thoroughly until the cream cheese mixture is smooth. Add the flaked salmon and make sure it is well combined. Refrigerate for several hours before forming into a ball. | |
Step 2 | |
Combine chopped pecans and parsley in a shallow bowl or dish. Shape salmon mixture into a ball and roll in the pecan and parsley mixture. Refrigerate until ready to use. Serve with crackers. |

I’ve adapted it to use real smoked salmon, but the original recipe is also listed in case you can’t find or can’t afford smoked salmon.
So, here’s another one from you Mom! Thank you for so many wonderful memories in and out of the kitchen.
Enjoy!
